Inquiry | Emergency Shelters

Emergency Shelters are used to protect people from disasters. Disaster like earthquakes,

storms, rain and  volcanic eruptions.

An Emergency Shelter needs the correct material. Concrete is the strongest material for storm

protection because when a thunderstorm strikes concrete nothing will happen.

The shape of the shelter is a type of 3

The materials that were picked were concrete because it is good for storm protection because

when the storm hits it won't fall.

Wool was picked because  it can keep things warm.

Wood was picked because it can protect the roof from falling.

Fractions

For this week we did fractions and we use cup and we dawe a line on the cup.

Then fractions we made was quarters and eighths. How we made it we use a cup and we cut it in to pieces there are eights and 4 quarters.

After 1 of the number is denominator and numerator so the top number is the numerator and the bottom number is denominator.

I think fraction are good because is great and it is good for the division.

L.I. to define "fraction".

Maori name.Rua

First we had to match the Maori names to the English names. Some names sound like the English name. We used Maori Dictionary for the ones we could not work out.

Afterward I showed whaea Odie then a group went over to the mat and whaea Ode taught us some new words.

Then we play a little game and the game was we to go right and left and we did that 6 time.

Then we went to mark it and it was correct.

This week for reading I did a table mat about a book called White water action.

For our table mat we started by finding information from my book.

White water action is about  Australia and lot of competitive sports as rafting.

Next I listed three keywords from our book. Than it was my 4 facts.

Facts was information from my book. Lastly was my question I would ask.

Thursday 5 November 2020

We watched a performance by the Duffy Theatre group about the coggen. A coggen is a mythical creature that is a mixture of a cat, dog, and chicken.

Before the show, the actors introduced themselves. Then we sang the duffy song.

Then, the actors performed for us.

Lastly the Duffy group held a question and answer session.

I enjoyed how they were acting and it was fun to watch a lot.
